send in the roses for i have expired say nothing of this love for in it's arms i've died the calming of angels consider me whole as i fall to pieces as the story unfolds and by blood i will stand by you while the vices of good men show through wrecking ball swings and I'm coming due for some crying send in the roses send in the roses for my time is at hand once the blushing of children the misfortunes of men i am but a fool here to wait for the spring say nothing of good friends say nothing of them

I have seen you in the temple as I lay those stolen words into your hands and I've seen you in the quarries where misfortune breaks the rocks into the sands and I've seen you in the portrait well among the prince of thieves to be the vagabond of witnesses so scarred by things I've seen this much is true my darling i've seen you I have seen you from a distance and I've seen you sometimes close enough to touch and I've seen you in your silks and satins, tucked between the lies you sleep too much and I've seen you in your golden years and I've seen you as a child and I've sifted through your friendships to find a heart that seems worthwhile, it's hard to do but my darling I've seen you in sunshine and rain dressed in rags, asleep in mansions, and on windowsills with bogus hundred dollar bills and I know that you can't talk right now and I know that time is short, you have to go when all I really had to say was hello I've seen you once or twice since then and I'm bummed each time I think of you alone I have seen you spread yourself across the days and weeks that pass for skin and bone and I have seen you in the pages and the verses I have read it is the duty of the ages to express what can't be said it's the simple truth... and my darling I've seen you.

Joseph 05:03
Joseph can you hear me i believe a car is pulling up outside the static guns have tracked us down and these chips have left us no place else to hide remember years ago, we shared a moment, far from all this silicon and space it's those simple acts of kindness that I miss way back when rhythm left no trace but now my century is crashing on the airwaves and though ashamed, I must admit that these were my days so now I walk without a soul, because the century I've known is blowing away... Joseph can you hear me I believe the voodoo lights have tracked us down so hide those books and records, all those love songs well I bet you're glad you wrote 'em down well it really was a thing of beauty back before the satellite's control we'd buy bread on the weekends, watch the old folks dance, and listen to the thunder roll... but now my century is crashing on the airwaves and though ashamed, I must admit that these were my days so now I walk without a soul, because the century I've known is blowing away... and I feel destiny upon me like a golden ship with burned out sails and every time I try to reach inside myself and find the man that's there I just find a man who's scared Joseph can you hear me I believe the stars are falling from the sky all this communication makes me feel so cheap like we never could see eye to eye so tell them when they slip inside the airlock that I've headed on my way to justify my life here on this planet and to try and live one perfect day but now my century is crashing on the airwaves and though ashamed, I must admit that these were my days so now I walk without a soul, because the century I've known is blowing away...

Carnival 05:35
I stood outside the carnival and watched the waves crash on the beach and I wondered if I could ever be alone and I brushed aside her hair and felt a slap of cold November air as I watched her wild horses leaving bruises on my soul I remember her in dresses calm like summer or a mistress but I spoke too soon and often about love picture this, she said I'll disappear when your skies are red and show my face when you're lonely And you’re falling down the road And I wonder why I can’t go home Shiny buttons flash like cash And I’ve seen ‘em all too much, too fast and I thrown them in the fountain And I wish them all away But I’m stranded and I’m hopeless Fired up and dusted, never trusted strung up like your Christmas lights, I’m torn down in the Spring But I wait and watch and listen Though my senses dull and missing As I watch the stronger kill the weak And I dream of meadows killed by streets And I wonder why I can’t go home So now I sleep among the brushfires Where crime and punishment survives And the silence in my heart Believes the silence from my phone But justice is so blind and dumb When my better half is on the run She’s strung out on the starlight With great distances between the night So send a postcard if you will And I’ll hang it on my wall until The words dry up and blow away Or maybe take me on a midnight cruise Above the winners and the losers And bathe me in your white light Before you send me on my way.. And I wonder why I can’t go home

I see you're still smoking those Indian cigarettes, your hair has grown back since last year under that brown bomber jacket you still move like a schoolgirl under fire red hair you still grin ear to ear and like a nosy kid brother I asked if you found love you said no, but it's still on the way you spend time with your girlfriends lots of laughs on the weekends and I was happy to hear that you still find a way to sing like the rain I've never been smooth, still stumble on small talk as I told you I still like a smoke with a beer and you said that they told ya that you look a bit older and I said man I don't see it from here but the goodbyes came then, and i rose to my feet and I promised to call you real soon but as quick as the night, babe, you slipped out of sight like those friendships sometimes we can't find the room so we sing like the rain and your voice is ringing out over broken street-llghts and innocent backyards and I'd like to stay and talk but i got a big house and it's my turn to stand guard aint it shame things keep on changing?

about

Dave Boylan Boulder, Colorado

Thanks for visiting us online. Managing songs is like herding cats...old revisions, new revisions, added a solo here, a backing vocal there, blah blah blah. Hoping to update this as we finish the songs...always a few in progress. Look for some country'ish stuff over the next few months. Yee-Haw.
Thanks.
